Cadiz was founded by the
Phoenicians around 1100 BC and became extremely important
during the course of the 18th century becauseof its’
trade with the New World.
It was an important port of call on the journey
to India as it mean that the ships could stock up on food
supplies before heading off on the journey. Ships would trade
precious metals for Spanish pastries and sherry.
