CAP TOWN - South Africa (Elégance)

Cape town founded by the Dutch in 1652,
for ships'captains it was an extremely important port
of call before entering the Indian Ocean.

The English, French and Dutch all established
their presence in the locality. France regularly bought produce
from the region especially supplies like butter, flour, lard,
salted meat. On the Dutch market the main items of export
were ivory, ostrich feathers, aloe, tabacco and some wine
from Constance. After 1795 trade consisted mainly of seeds
vegetables, brandy, wool, furs, whale oil and smoked meat.
